Thank YouA special thanks to the businesses and organizations that make the Alligator Warrior Festival possible with their sponsorship! Please give them your support. Become a SponsorThere is no contribution to small or too large and it's tax-deductible. Times are tough and it's times like this when investing in the well-being of our own community is more important than ever. The Alligator Warrior Festival, also known as the Alligator Fest, is designed to provide an entertaining education, to tourists and residents both old and new, about our local heritage and legacy. We show how the Native Americans, African Americans and European Americans lived and worked in our community in the early 19th century. Living-history reenactors portraying 1830's Seminoles, US soldiers, pioneer militia and settlers will give presentations in their period camps and reenact the Battle of San Felasco Hammock, which is the 2nd Seminole War battle that took place closest to O'Leno. The festival also includes Native American musicians and dancers, a drum arbor with dance ground and tee pee camp, as well as traders selling historic replicas, skillfully handcrafted arts, manufactured souvenirs, and food. We'll have candy dances for the kids, honor dances for veterans, and much more. As of October 2010, the annual Alligator Festival will take place in O'Leno State Park, in southwestern Columbia County, Florida. It is our intent to remain with this venue unless a better opportunity presents itself. While we remain forever grateful to previous hosts of the AlligatorFest, O'Leno State Park is currently the only location that meets all of the criteria for the hosting this increasingly popular festival. The Alligator Festival brings reenactors and other participants to our community from all over Florida and the southeast. Attendance in recent years has averaged 2,200 visitors over the weekend with a positive impact ranging from $50,000 - $200,000 for our local economy. As of January 2010, we have been publicizing the event locally and statewide. We've also upgraded the small skirmish to a full scale reenactment of the Battle of San Felasco Hammock. We have the collaboration of the public school district and the region's private schools to make the Alligator Festival a class field trip on Friday. The Alligator Fest brings in visitors from central Georgia, central Florida, Jacksonville, the nature coast and beyond. Museums all over north and central Florida are proud to supply visitors with our event flyer. Our publicity packets are sent to the print and broadcast media outlets within a one hundred mile radius and more people come each year, as people spread the word to their friends. The public is interested in our state's Native American heritage but they have limited opportunities to experience it in our area, especially its historical context. Alligator Festival of Lake City FL, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) Public Charity under section 170(b)(1)(A)(vi) with Federal Tax ID# 20-8580203. As a volunteer-run non-profit corporation, the Alligator Festival relies on its sponsors to participate in the realization of the annual event. Through your promotion help and your contributions of cash and/or goods, we are able to host a respected and enjoyable event. We publicize your support in a variety of ways depending on available funding, such as business card sized listings in the event program, links on our web site, sponsor signs and verbal mentions during the 3-day festival. Please get in touch using the "Contact Us" page of our web site and one of our board members will be happy to come and meet with you. At your service for any additional information that you may require, we offer our most sincere gratitude for your consideration and your partnership. With our very best regards, Forms |
